ICREST Raster Dataset Listing and File Descriptions

IMPORTANT NOTE: Data on ICREST/MSDIS are being reorganized. Raster data types (imagery data e.g. DOQQ, NAIP, DRG) are being migrated to our sister organization ICREST

The new ICREST FTP server file structure is described below. Click a link for more detailed description of folder contents.

Go to the MSDIS FTP server file structure (http://www.msdis.missouri.edu/pub).

Metadata are part the coverages you will find on ICREST. You can use document.aml or hyperlink to the .html file to access the metadata. Please be sure to know the limitations of the data before you decide to use it. The coverages are also being converted to NAD83, a more accurate representation of the round Earth on a flat surface.

<county name>.e00.gz - County level 1:24000 DEMs (Digital Elevation Model) files available from MSDIS. Each file is a 30-meter resolution ArcInfo lattice of a Missouri county with a 1000-meter buffer. UTM, NAD83, Metadata

Here are the DRG (Digital Raster Graphic) files from the USGS. The directory structure is organized by scale with subdirectories for files with the collars clipped or not (Currently only the unclipped versions are available). A easier graphical method to find DRGs is available HERE. The DRGs have three (3) files associated with each instance. Be sure to download the .tif (image), the .fgd.gz (metadata) and the .tfw (world) file. The world file (.tfw) has been shifted to NAD83. Each directory contains the 24k DRGs (filename prefix o). You will also find the associated 100k (filename prefix f) and 250k (filename prefix c) DRGs here.

See the DRG Quad Sheet List page for more info.

Be aware: If you use the .tif without the .tfw you will be in NAD27. These are right off the USGS CD-ROMs. The .tfw file is the only file we processed. The shifted .tfw file puts the image into NAD83. The collar of the DRG will still say NAD27. Collarless DRGs will be available in the near future.

<county name>.tar.gz - Mosaiced 100k USGS DRGs for all Missouri counties.

http://www.msdis.missouri.edu/msdisdata/pub//drg/reference
<usgs gazeteer ref map name>_<state>refmapnumber>.tif.gz - Compressed tif images of the pages from the USGS DRG gazeteer.

http://www.msdis.missouri.edu/msdisdata/pub//mrsid/doq
1:24,000 DOQ (Digital Ortho Quarterquad) files are available from MSDIS. Each DOQ consists of three files, a MrSID file, a world file and a text file.  You must download all three to correctly georeference the DOQ. The DOQ's are available at county level. Individual quads available by request.
http://www.msdis.missouri.edu/msdisdata/pub//mrsid/doq/county/
<county name>.tar.gz - the DOQs for each county are mosaiced together into 1 file with a 1000-meter buffer. All the individual quads used to create the county wide files are available in the quad subdirectory.

http://www.msdis.missouri.edu/msdisdata/pub//naip2003/
<short county name>.tar.gz - This directory contains imagery data from the National Agricultural Imagery Program. The NAIP 2003 imagery from the USDA is now available on MSDIS as county-wide files in MrSID format, TARred and GZIPped. These are near infrared aerial photography images.

NOTE: seven counties were originally projected in UTM Zone 16, NOT Zone 15. These files have now been reprojected in UTM Zone 15.
