GIS Training for Working Professionals
MSDIS is proud to offer several four-hour training workshops designed to introduce working professionals and university staff and students to basic GIS workflows. Leveraging their experiences from both using GIS and teaching university courses, MSDIS staff have a proven history of successful instruction.

We currently offer the following workshops:
Introduction to ArcGIS Pro
This workshop focuses on understanding and navigating the ArcGIS Pro interface to accomplish basic GIS tasks. Attendees will receive a brief introduction to some of the foundational concepts of GIS and spatial data, ending with a step-by-step walkthrough of choropleth map creation.
Introduction to Spatial Analysis
This workshop introduces the fundamentals of spatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro. Participants will learn how to approach spatial problems by asking effective questions, choosing appropriate tools, and performing operations in ArcGIS Pro to explore real-world GIS problems. This course is designed for professionals with some GIS experience.
Introduction to Geospatial Metadata
This workshop examines the importance of proper documentation of your geospatial data. Attendees will be introduced to the basics of geospatial metadata formats, discuss best practices, learn how to find and read geospatial metadata, and end with a step-by-step walkthrough of authoring ESRI-compliant metadata.
